Celebrating Michelle Tarson’s Pro Bono Efforts and Legal Accomplishments

Stagg Wabnik

At Stagg Wabnik Law Group, we take great pride in the contributions of our attorneys.  Today, we recognize Senior Counsel Michelle E. Tarson for her exceptional pro bono work.  Michelle recently played a key role as a pro bono settlement facilitator in a Bergen County, New Jersey, matter.  Her passion for helping others and her unwavering dedication to the legal field reflect the values of Stagg Wabnik Law Group and our commitment to supporting the courts and the community.

The Firm’s Pro Bono Commitment

Michelle’s pro bono efforts extend far beyond a single case.  As part of our firm’s broader mission to give back to the community, Michelle and other attorneys at the firm have been involved with several nonprofit organizations, including Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), which provides legal counsel to refugee and immigrant children.  Additionally, she and others are involved in the American Bar Association's (ABA) Military Pro Bono Project, supporting active-duty military personnel by assisting with civil legal issues.  Our attorneys’ dedication to these causes highlights the firm’s commitment to using our legal experience to impact the lives of those in need.

Our firm’s commitment to mediation also shines through the efforts of partners Thomas Stagg and Debra Wabnik, both of whom are New York certified mediators.  Their experience in mediation reinforces Stagg Wabnik Law Group’s dedication to resolving disputes efficiently and fairly.

A Career of Legal Excellence

Michelle's pro bono work is only part of her impressive legal career.  As Senior Counsel at Stagg Wabnik Law Group, her practice focuses on commercial litigation, contract actions, and motor vehicle forfeitures.  She litigates in state and federal courts across New York and New Jersey, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Her legal knowledge and extensive experience enable her to handle complex cases across multiple jurisdictions, consistently delivering successful results for her clients.

Michelle’s legal journey began at Boston University School of Law, where she earned her J.D. while serving as an Articles Editor for the Boston University Public Interest Law Journal.  She accelerated her undergraduate studies, earning a B.A. in Political Science and Environmental Studies from Binghamton University in just three years.

Industry Recognition and Leadership

Michelle’s contributions to the legal field have not gone unnoticed.  She has been recognized in Lawyers of Distinction for 2024 and has been selected as a Super Lawyer from 2022 to 2024.  Super Lawyers is a prestigious designation awarded to top-rated attorneys recognized for their professional achievement after an extensive evaluation process.  Additionally, Michelle holds a Preeminent rating with Martindale-Hubbell, a respected legal rating service that highlights attorneys who have achieved the highest standards of professional excellence and ethics.

Beyond her individual legal practice, Michelle also plays a vital role in the legal community.  Michelle is the chair of the Judgment Enforcement & Collections committee and a State Director for the Westchester Women’s Bar Association.  She also serves on the Executive Committee for the Justice Brandeis Law Society, 9th Judicial District and is currently the Secretary of the Westchester County Bar Association’s Attorney Well-Being Committee.  In addition, Michelle acts as a judge for law student moot court participants at the Elizabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University.

A Bright Future

At Stagg Wabnik Law Group, we are proud to have Michelle Tarson on our team.  Her contributions, whether through her work with clients, her pro bono efforts, or her leadership in the legal community, continue to inspire those around her.  Michelle’s achievements testify to her passion and dedication to every case and challenge.  We look forward to seeing all she will accomplish in the future.
